Social Media & Business: Mistakes to Avoid

I made a lot of mistakes when it came to using social media for my business 😬- and I’d really like to help you avoid that!

There’s nothing more frustrating (and exhausting) than being on the hamster wheel of showing up online every day but seeing very few results! 😭😭

I know you work hard.

And I know you’re brilliant at what you do.

So here’s a few things to keep in mind when it comes to social media:

Consistency is important, but it’s not enough on its own.

You need to have an intention behind what you post, and big vision strategy for what you want out of it.

🌟Ex 1: Is your intention to teach? To inspire? To spur them into action? Be clear about why you’re posting.

🌟Ex 2: Is your strategy meant to build your group? To build your email list? It doesn’t need to be complicated, but there does need to be a planned path for your audience.

Keep it SOCIAL.

This might seem obvious, but this is one of the biggest things I learned the hard way.

Showing up & sharing content or offers is NOT enough.

Engagement (aka building ACTUAL relationships) is so so important.

Remember that this is a long-game- go into these relationships with an honest intention to serve and connect, NOT with the intention of making a sale.

➡️People can most definitely feel the difference between a message that is authentic & friendly vs. an ulterior motive.

We’ve all received messages like that, where it was obvious that the person was only talking to us because they wanted to sell us something🙄.

Don’t be that person 😉.

🌟People will WANT to buy from you when they get to know you and actually trust you.

So keep the energy clean!

Hold zero expectation- just be a person.

➡️And nurture these relationships over TIME!⬅️

You probably didn’t marry your partner after the first date, so don’t expect it from your audience either. 😝

Relying on social media alone as a way to grow & nurture your audience.

You don’t need to have all the fancy business stuff to get started, but I strongly recommend making it a priority from day 1.

🌟Some people are not energetically built to show up on social media EVERY SINGLE DAY. 🌟

And some people just don’t want to.

Hi, that’s me- I’m that someone 🤣.

Aside from that- what would happen if your account was hacked, shut down, or the platform rules were changed???

(Not to mention, the algorithm is constantly changing. Reaching people organically has become more difficult.)

➡️The point is- you don’t own your social media accounts.

🔥And you should be able to run your business without it if you HAD to. 🔥

(Or also, if you simply want a business model that doesn’t rely on your online presence daily.)

If you want to run a sustainable, legitimate business- then please make sure you are building it on a strong foundation!

🌟Be prepared.

🌟Be smart.

You can absolutely use social media to grow, but my opinion is that it shouldn’t be your lifeline!

What are your thoughts on this?? Let me know in the comments.
